If your remote control is in frequent use, then it’s worth cleaning it regularly. This guide will show you how to clean a TV remote control so that it remains in good condition for a long time.
The first step to clean a TV remote control is to open it and remove the batteries. If necessary, you can replace the existing batteries with new ones.
Next, use a slightly damp cloth – not too wet! – to clean the buttons and spaces on the front of the remote control. Food residues and dirt can be removed easily and effectively in this way.
The next step is to check and clean all the battery contact points. Soak a cotton bud in WD-40 Specialist contact spray cleaner and gently clean the contact points. Don’t spray it directly into the interior of the remote control to avoid excess liquid pooling inside the control and not evaporating.
WD40 Specialist Contact Cleaner spray is fast drying and suitable for use on all sensitive electrical components. It provides excellent cleaning with minimal fuss, and removes dirt, dust and condensation with ease. This makes it ideal for use on circuit boards, switches, even spark plugs and tape heads.
Finally, reinsert the batteries, put the protective flap back on and the cleaning of the remote control is done and it is ready for use again.
