Rusty objects can stain surfaces around your home, leaving unsightly orange and brown marks. But, with WD-40 Multi Use Product, it’s easy to remove rust stains and also protect your surfaces and objects from rust and corrosion in the future. This short guide will provide tips on how to remove rust from tiles around your home, whether inside or outside.
When considering how to remove rust from tiles, first take into account the type of tile. For non-porous tiles (glazed ceramic tiles), apply lemon juice to the rust stain and cover with coarse salt. Leave on for a few minutes for a small stain, or up to 1 hour for stubborn stains. Then, using a sponge, rub the area gently.
Alternatively, you can create a paste by mixing baking soda and lemon together and apply to the area. Then, remove as above.
If your tiles are porous (like cement, brick or marble) it will be preferable to use non-abrasive and non-acidic products. So avoid lemon, salt or vinegar. Instead, mix soap with warm water and rub vigorously with a brush.
To remove rust from tiles outdoors, take a bucket and add 1 litre of hot water, 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of dish soap. Apply to the stained area and vigorously scrub with a brush. Rust spots should fade.
Once you have been able to remove the rust from your tiles, make sure it doesn’t come back! The best solution for this is to protect your metal objects from rust, with WD-40 Multi-Use Product. Simply spray WD-40 onto the metal object, wipe with a cloth and voila! Your possessions are protected against rust. If your object is outdoors you will need to apply the product more frequently than indoors.
Knowing how to remove rust from tiles, will keep your home free from unsightly stains. And WD-40 Multi-Use Product will keep your objects free from rust and corrosion in the future.
