Rolls of duct tape are found in almost every toolbox in the world because of its accessibility, versatility, and the fact that it sticks like glue. However, the blessing of duct tapes also comes with a curse because removing duct tape is no easy task. So, how to remove duct tape residue quickly and easily?
Duct tapes are formulated with what are known as natural rubber compounds that provide long-term, solid adhesion. If you don’t clean-up properly after removing duct tape, you will almost certainly find yourself in a sticky situation! So learning how to remove duct tape residue is a useful skill.
To begin with, use a putty knife to scrape off as much duct tape residue as you can. All you have to do is start from one end and then slowly move upwards with repetitive scrapes.
The heat from the warm water will help to soften the structure of the duct tape glue so use your cloth to dampen the area. You can also add one or two drops of dishwashing liquid or soap.
For stubborn areas, you can now apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol. We should add, however, that this solvent is unsuitable for painted materials and you should always test on a small area even if you are working with glass or metal.
Finally, simply spray on WD-40 Multi Use product and then wipe off. It will remove duct tape residue very effectively from finished wood, vinyl, linoleum, and glass.
Now you are officially an expert on how to remove duct tape residue! Maybe you have moved house or office recently and found floors or walls covered with black, sticky patches? They very quickly gather dust and grime. These techniques will allow you to create a clean environment free of dirty and sticky patches.
