Bike lovers take the safety and maintenance of their bikes very seriously. And, when it comes to bike maintenance, the chain is very important. Keeping your bike chain oiled and lubricated allows you to enjoy your rides to the fullest. If you want to take care of your bike in a hassle-free way at home, WD-40 Multi Use Product Smart Straw is ideal. Here are the simple steps to follow in order to oil a bike chain with WD-40.
Although it sounds odd, the best way to start an oiling session for your bike is to take it for a ride for around 10 minutes. This helps to build a little temperature within the chain which loosens the grime and makes it easier for the lubricating liquid to penetrate.
Once you are done with your ride, park it safely and mask the wheels of your bike. This prevents the chemical from being sprayed on the wheels. You can simply mask the tyres with the help of plastic sheets or trash bags.
It is always advisable to oil your bike chain when it is free from dirt and grime. To clean the chain, use a soft bristle brush. As you clean the chain, make sure that the brush stroke is along the length of the chain. You can use a chain cleaner if desired.
Once you are done getting rid of the grime off the chain, you will need to wipe it dry using a cotton rag or an old t-shirt. Never start oiling a chain that is still wet.
Once your bike chain is clean and dry, all you need to do is spray WD-40 Multi Use Product on it. The liquid penetrates into the surface and lubricates the chain, to provide you with a smooth and frictionless riding experience. A couple of sprays should do the trick. Rotate the wheels a few times to ensure that the liquid has spread evenly throughout the chain.
Finally, make sure you wipe off the excess liquid using a cotton rag or an old t-shirt.
