Waking up every morning and having to fight with a stuck drawer is a bad way to start the day. Rather than going the costly route and replacing your cabinet or dresser with a newer model, extend its life by using the following tips to fix a sticking drawer.
Dry cloth
Screwdriver
WD-40® Multi-Use Product
To fix a sticking drawer, firstly you will need to remove the drawer entirely to be able to completely lubricate the full track. You may need a screwdriver to be able to do this.
Take a dry, clean cloth and wipe the drawer sliding tracks clean. This will remove any excess dirt or grime that may have been attracted over time and use.
In this situation, a can of WD-40 Multi Use Product is indispensable! Spray WD-40 along the drawer track and it will clean away the excess dirt and grease, as well as lubricating and protecting the track.
Take your cloth and wipe away any excess WD-40 that has been left behind. Give the drawers a quick clean to make sure they are back in perfect condition and put the drawer back into position. Try opening and closing it a few times, just to make sure the job has been done well.
Once you know how to fix a sticking drawer, it means no more annoying squeaks or stiff drawers in the future! But always be careful not to overload any drawer with heavy books or other items, as this may warp or damage the drawer itself.
