Do you need to change a car battery? It’s not as hard as you might think. Here are a few tips to guide you through the process.

First, to change a car battery, make sure the car engine has been off for ten minutes to avoid possible electric shock. Next, open the engine, and unscrew the negative terminal (- sign), then the positive terminal (+ sign). If the nuts are blocked, use WD-40 Multi-Use Product to loosen them. Finally, carefully remove the battery, unscrewing the fixing using a wrench. Be careful, when removing it, taking care not to tilt it to avoid any acid spills.
Before installing the new battery, take the time to clean away any dirt which has accumulated in the engine. If necessary, use the WD-40 Multifunction Product, ideal for removing stubborn residues. Once the location is clean, insert the new battery:
Once you have changed the battery, think about protecting it. This will ensure an extended battery life and avoid short circuits. For this we recommend WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner. Once your car battery is changed and protected, make sure everything is working. To do this, start your car. If it starts normally, success! If not, recheck the battery terminals. For recent cars, you will definitely need to reset your car radio code. Refer to the manufacturer’s booklet for guidance.
