Foundation, mascara, and lipstick have the potential to freshen up our tired looks. But, for our carpets, they do the exact opposite. There is no need to worry though – we’re here to tell you how to remove lipstick stains and other make-up stains quickly and easily from your carpets.
To remove lipstick stains, or other make-up stains, start by following the next 3 steps while working from the very edge of the stain. Also, get yourself an absorbent paper towel or a dry white cloth.
If the stain is fresh, first dab at it gently, with the absorbent paper towel or the white cloth, to remove any excess. You should, however, avoid rubbing at the stain, as this could cause it to spread further.
The second step to remove lipstick stains is to apply some lukewarm water to the stain by dabbing the area with a damp cloth. After this, you can drizzle some potato starch on the affected area and let it dry for the next 24 hours. Once the time has passed, you can go ahead and vacuum over the stain.
If you find that the water and potato starch didn’t work, then you can go ahead and use a stain removal product. Be careful to avoid products that employ bleaching agents or chlorinated agents because these will discolour the affected area.
You can test the product (following the instructions provided) on a smaller area of the carpet first, such as the area under a radiator or the very corner of the room.
The WD-40 Solution
Alternatively to remove lipstick stains or make-up stains, get hold of some WD-40 Multi Use Product and spray it onto a lint-free cloth. As above, if the stain is fresh, first dab at it gently, with an absorbent paper towel or white cloth to remove any excess. Then, take the cloth soaked with WD40 cloth and rub it gently on the affected area until you notice that the stain is gone. Rotate the cloth and you’ll find that the lipstick stain has transferred onto the cloth. Always patch test on a small area of the carpet first, as above.
Yes, it really is that easy!
